Ceva Animal Health Asia successfully organized the first Avian Influenza Scientific Forum on October 25th, 2017 in Hanoi, Vietnam, in order to encourage discussions and experience sharing within a selected group of university professors, researchers, scientists, governmental authorities and representatives of official organizations from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, China, South Korea and Bangladesh.

Among the presenters, Dr Yannick Gardin, Ceva Animal Health’s Global Scientific Expert in Biology, shared his views on the Global Situation of Avian Influenza. Professor Liao Ming, from College of Veterinary Medicine, South China Agricultural University discussed the current situation of this disease in China. Dr Eric Brum, from the Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD), FAO, discussed the Control Strategies for HPAI in Bangladesh; Professor Dennis Umali, from the University of the Philippines - Los Baños, updated the attendees on the situation of latest affected country in Asia. Finally, Dr Vilmos Palya, Director of Scientific Support and Investigation Unit, Ceva Animal Health Phylaxia Campus – Hungary, presented the hidden threats to the poultry industry caused by LPAIV H9N2.

The success of this innovative platform for discussions encourages Ceva Animal Health Asia to organize the second Avian Influenza Scientific Forum in 2018.
