Hatchery vaccination advancement sparks farmers’ interest in recently concluded Lecture Tour on February 12th-15th in the Philippines.
An unexpected but favorable response to the lecture tour entitled “Recipe for Success: Starts in the Hatchery” was observed even with the short notice. Customized for broiler farmers, the topics ranged from disease to vaccination as well as modern techniques in vaccine delivery.
Field experts from Ceva Animal Health shared their knowledge and findings on three important subjects in broiler farming. Dr. Mustafa-Seckin Sandikli discussed the importance of protecting against Newcastle Disease (NDV) genotype VII while Dr. Marcelo Paniago shared information on Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) control through vaccination. Developments in hatchery vaccination as a technique to help curb ND and IBD was ably explained by Dr. Chalermchai Skulphuek while the final topic handled by Dr. Jay Peria showed the current broiler disease profile of the Philippines.
The half day seminar was conducted in 4 major areas in the Philippines and attended by the biggest broiler producers in the country. The level of engagement was high where a healthy exchange of ideas and opinions was observed.
